It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best things with which you treat yourselves are these: putting medicine into the nose (al-sa'ut), giving medicine into one side of the mouth (al-ladud), cupping (al-hijamah) and taking a laxative (al-mashi)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak) because of Abbad bin Mansur (al-Naji al-Basri). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Besides being weak, he also used to commit "tadlis" from weak narrators; see the discussion of some of his hadiths in the next hadith. Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi recorded it (2047, 2048, 2053), combined with other narrations, through routes from Abbad bin Mansur, with this same chain, and said: This hadith is "hasan gharib"; we know it only from the hadith of Abbad bin Mansur. Note / Clarification: "Al-ladud" is a medicine placed in one side (corner) of the patient's mouth. Note / Clarification: "Al-mashiyy" is a laxative (purgative) medicine, because it makes the one who drinks it walk about and go repeatedly to the toilet; this was said by Ibn al-Athir.
