Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7649

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned 'irq al-nasa (sciatica) and said: "The fat tail of an Arab ram is to be taken, neither very small nor very large; it is melted and (divided into three parts and) drunk for three days." Anas bin Sirin said: I have described this remedy to more than three hundred people, and all of them recovered.
All these chains are sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim). Hammad bin Salamah made its chain mu'dal (with consecutive narrators missing), but in our view the narration of al-Mu'tamir bin Sulayman and al-Walid bin Muslim is the correct and preserved one.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: The original manuscripts had "Ibn Malik", but we have corrected it according to the well-known form (al-jaddah) in light of some of the sources of takhrij and the earlier narration number (3191).

Important point: In the handwritten manuscripts this word was corrupted to "al'aqahu".

Grading: This hadith is sahih, and there is no harm in its narrators (la ba'sa bihim).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): A group narrated from the narrator Abd al-Khaliq bin Abi al-Mukhariq, as al-Bazzar said, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat"; but there is disagreement in it over Anas bin Sirin, the details of which have passed at narration number (3191).
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar recorded it in the "Musnad" (6797), al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (2067), al-Daraqutni in "al-Ilal" (question 2340), al-Sahmi in "Tarikh Jurjan" 1/ 300, Abu Nu'aym in "al-Tibb al-Nabawi" (494), al-Khatib in "Tarikh Baghdad" 15/ 163 and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" 4/ (1556), through various routes from al-Abbas bin Yazid al-Bahrani, with this same chain.
Details of the narration: Al-Bazzar says that, to our knowledge, no one narrated it from Habib bin al-Shahid except Abd al-Khaliq bin Abi al-Mukhariq, who is a well-known Basran narrator; Amr bin Asim al-Kilabi, Uthman bin Talut, Hafs bin Mahbub and others narrated from him; and nothing is narrated via Habib, from Anas bin Sirin, from Anas except this one hadith.

Details of the narration: The takhrij of this route has already passed under the earlier narration number (3191).
