It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that with the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), there was a child whose nostrils were dripping blood. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came in and asked: "What is the matter with this child?" She said: He has al-'udhrah (a throat ailment). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to you, O company of women! Do not kill your children. Any woman whose child has a throat ailment or a headache should take 'Indian costus'." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) (to treat him), and she did so, and the child recovered.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it; and Imam Bukhari has also recorded a hadith similar to this, in abridged form, through the narration of al-Zuhri from Umm Qays bint Mihsan.

Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is "strong" because of Abu Sufyan (Talhah bin Nafi'). Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it in the "Musnad" 22/ (14385) by way of Abu Mu'awiyah Muhammad bin Khazim and Yahya bin Abi Ghaniyyah, from al-A'mash, with this same chain. Details of the narration: This narration will come later with the author (al-Hakim) under number (8445), also by way of al-A'mash. Note / Clarification: "Al-udhrah" is a pain (inflammation) of the throat, and it has also been said that it is a boil or sore that appears in children in the area between the nose and the throat.
Reference / Source: This hadith is in the Sahihayn (al-Bukhari 5692 and Muslim 2214), with the wording: "Make use of this Indian aloeswood, for in it there are cures for seven diseases: it is put into the nose for (the throat disease) udhrah, and given through the side of the mouth for dhat al-janb."
