حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني (1)، حدثنا أبو الجَوَّاب، حدثنا عمَّار بن رُزيق، عن أبي إسحاق، عن شمر بن عطية، عن خُرَيم بن فاتك، أنَّ النبيَّ ﷺ قال: "يا خُرَيمُ، لولا خَلَّتانِ فِيكَ كُنتَ أنتَ الرَّجُلَ" فقال: ما هما يا رسول الله؟ قال: "إسبالُك إزارَك، وإرخاؤُكَ شَعْرَك" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khuraym bin Fatik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khuraym, were it not for two traits in you, you would be a complete man." He said: O Messenger of Allah, what are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your letting your waist-wrapper hang down (below the ankles), and your letting your hair grow long."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: الصنعاني. وهذه السلسلة قد تكررت عند المصنف.
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this name is distorted into "al-San'ani". This chain has occurred repeatedly with the author (al-Hakim).
(2) حديث حسن بطرقه، وهذا إسناد ضعيف، شمر بن عطية - وهو الأسدي - لم يدرك خريم ابن فاتك. وسلف الحديث عند المصنف برقم (6753) من طريق الأعمش عن شمر.
Grading: (2) The hadith is "hasan" by virtue of its (other) routes, but this chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Shimr bin Atiyyah (who is al-Asadi) did not meet Khuraym bin Fatik (so it is munqati'). This hadith has already appeared with the author under number (6753) through the route of al-A'mash from Shimr.
أبو الجوَّاب هو الأحوص بن جواب وأبو إسحاق هو عمرو بن عبد الله السَّبيعي.
Identification of the narrator: "Abu al-Jawwab" is al-Ahwas bin Jawwab, and "Abu Ishaq" is Amr bin Abd Allah al-Sabi'i.
وأخرجه أحمد 31 / (18899) من طريق معمر، و (18901) و (19037) من طريق أبي بكر ابن عياش، عن أبي إسحاق، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Imam Ahmad (31/ 18899) through the route of Ma'mar, and (18901, 19037) through the route of Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, from Abu Ishaq, with this chain.
