It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her while she was putting on her head-covering (khimar), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wrap (it) once only, not twice."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) In the manuscripts this word is written "a-liyyah" (with the interrogative hamzah), whereas what we have established ("liyyah") is taken from "al-Talkhis" and the other source works, and that is the correct form, because it is an imperative verb, not a question.
Grading: (2) Its chain is soft (layyin) because Wahb, the freed slave of Abu Ahmad, is unknown (majhul). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Habib bin Abi Thabit is alone in narrating from him, and no one except Ibn Hibban is reported to have declared him trustworthy. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Imam Ahmad (44/ 26522, 26538, 26617) and Abu Dawud (4115) through various routes from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this chain. Note / Clarification: Al-Sindi said in his marginal notes on "al-Musnad": "That is, it (the head covering) should be wound in a single fold, not two folds, for fear of resembling men's turbans."
