لَعَنَ النَّبِيُّ الْمَرْأَةَ تَلْبَسُ لُبْسَةَ الرَّجُلِ ، وَالرَّجُلَ يَلْبَسُ لُبْسَةَ الْمَرْأَةِ
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the woman who wears men's clothing and the man who wears women's clothing

أخبرنا محمد بن علي الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدثنا أحمد بن حازم الغِفاري، حدثنا أبو نُعيم، حدثنا إبراهيم بن نافع عن الحسن بن مسلم، عن صَفيَّة بنتِ شَيْبة: أَنَّ عائشة كانت تقول: لمّا نزلت هذه الآية: ﴿وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَى جُيُوبِهِنَّ﴾ [النور: 31]، أخذْنَ النِّسَاءُ أُذُرَهُنَّ فَشَقَقْنَها من قِبَل الحَوَاشِي، فَاحْتَمَرْن بها (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: 'And let them draw their head-coverings over their bosoms' [Surah al-Nur: 31]; she said: When this verse was revealed, the women took their waist-wrappers (lower garments), tore them from the edges, and made head-coverings of them.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(3) إسناده صحيح أبو نعيم: هو الفضل بن دُكين المُلائي. وأخرجه البخاري (4759) عن أبي نعيم الفضل بن دكين بهذا الإسناد. واستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Grading: (3) Its chain is sahih. (Abu Nu'aym is al-Fadl bin Dukayn al-Mula'i.)
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Bukhari (4759) recorded it from Abu Nu'aym al-Fadl bin Dukayn with this chain. Al-Hakim's inclusion of it in the Mustadrak (i.e. as something not in al-Bukhari and Muslim) is an oversight on his part.
