وحدّثنا أبو العباس، حَدَّثَنَا بحر بن نصر، حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله بن وهب، أخبرني عمرو بن الحارث، أنَّ أبا عُشَّانة المَعافِري حدَّثه، أنه سمع عُقبةَ بن عامر الجُهَني يُخبر: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ كان يَمنَعُ أهلَه الحِلْيةَ، ويقول: "إنْ كنتُم تُحبُّون حِليةَ الجنة وحريرَها، فلا تَلْبَسْنَها" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid his family from (wearing) jewellery, and he would say: "If you love the jewellery of Paradise and its silk, then do not wear them (in this world)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو عشّانة: هو حيّ بن يُومن المعافري المصري.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Ushshanah is "Hayy bin Yu'min al-Ma'afiri al-Misri".
وأخرجه النسائي (9374) عن وهب بن بيان وابن حبان (5486) من طريق حرملة بن يحيى، كلاهما عن عبد الله بن وهب، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Nasa'i (9374) from Wahb bin Bayan, and by Ibn Hibban (5486) through the route of Harmalah bin Yahya; both of them narrate it from Abd Allah bin Wahb, with this chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 28/ (17310) من طريق رِشدين بن سعد، عن عمرو بن الحارث، به. وانظر التعليق عليه هناك.
