أخبرنا أبو بكر بن قُريش، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن سفيان، حَدَّثَنَا أبو الربيع الزَّهْراني، حَدَّثَنَا عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث، حَدَّثَنَا همَّام، عن قَتَادة، عن مُطرِّف، عن عائشة: أنها صَنعَتْ (1) لرسول الله ﷺ جُبَّةً من صوفٍ سوداءَ، فلَبِسَها، فلما عَرِقَ وَجَدَ ريحَ الصُّوف فخَلَعها، وكان يُعجِبُه الرِّيحُ الطَّيِّب (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she made a black woollen cloak (jubbah) for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) wore it, but when he (peace and blessings be upon him) sweated and noticed the smell of the wool, he (peace and blessings be upon him) took it off, for he (peace and blessings be upon him) loved a pure, pleasant fragrance.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Note / Clarification: (1) Manuscripts (S) and (M) have "sa'at".
(2) إسناده صحيح أبو الربيع الزهراني: هو سليمان بن داود العتكي، وهمام: هو ابن يحيى العَوذي، ومطرف هو ابن عبد الله بن الشِّخير.
Grading: (2) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu al-Rabi' al-Zahrani is "Sulayman bin Dawud al-Ataki", Hammam is "Ibn Yahya al-Awdhi", and Mutarrif is "Ibn Abd Allah bin al-Shikhkhir".
وأخرجه أحمد 42/ (26117) عن عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث، بهذا الإسناد.

وأخرجه النسائي (9583) من طريق هشام الدستوائي، عن قتادة، عن مطرف، فذكره عن النَّبِيّ ﷺ مرسلًا ليس فيه عائشة.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Nasa'i (9583) through the route of Hisham al-Dastuwa'i, from Qatadah, from Mutarrif, who mentioned it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as mursal, without A'ishah in it.
