Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is "hasan" on the strength of its supporting reports, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "Nata'ij al-Afkar" 1/277.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Dahhak bin Uthman was contradicted in narrating this hadith as marfu' (as will come), and Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz, despite being weak, has been corroborated.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (773), al-Nasa'i (9838) and Ibn Hibban (2050) recorded it by way of Muhammad bin Bashshar, and Ibn Hibban (2047) by way of Ishaq bin Ibrahim bin Rahawayh; both of them transmit it through Abu Bakr al-Hanafi with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i recorded it at (9839) by way of Muhammad bin Ajlan, from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, and at (9840) by way of Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from Sa'id bin Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that Ka'b al-Ahbar said: "O Abu Hurayrah, remember two things from me which I enjoin upon you: when you enter the mosque, send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: 'O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy', and when you go out…"
Technical note / Defect ('illah): He (Ibn Abi Dhi'b) made it "mawquf" on Ka'b al-Ahbar (his own statement). Al-Nasa'i said after the narration of Ibn Abi Dhi'b: "In our view Ibn Abi Dhi'b is more reliable (athbat) in the narrations of Sa'id al-Maqburi than Muhammad bin Ajlan and al-Dahhak bin Uthman, so his narration is closer to being correct."
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: In support of it one may cite the marfu' hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi or Abu Usayd (may Allah be pleased with them): "When one of you enters the mosque, let him send salutations upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and then say: 'O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy', and when he goes out, let him say: 'O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.'" Muslim (713), Abu Dawud (465) (the wording is his) and others recorded it.
