Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7575

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I have seen us with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when rain fell upon us (and our woollen clothes got wet), and it seemed as though our smell was the smell of sheep.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) In manuscript (Z) it reads: "Abu Musa from his father", and this is a mistake.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) Its narrators are acceptable (la ba'sa bihim), but it is not known that Qatadah heard from Abu Burdah (Ibn Abi Musa al-Ash'ari), as Ibn Ma'in said. On this, see the commentary on the earlier narration number (2661); we missed mentioning this in "Musnad Ahmad" and elsewhere. Abu Awanah is "al-Waddah bin Abd Allah al-Yashkuri".
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad (32/ 19759), Abu Dawud (4073) and al-Tirmidhi (2479) through various routes from Abu Awanah, with this chain.
Reference / Source: It was also recorded by Ahmad (19758), Ibn Majah (3562) and Ibn Hibban (1235) through various routes from Qatadah, with this chain.
Reference / Source: As for what al-Bazzar narrated in his "Musnad" (3134) through the route of Abd Allah bin al-Rabi', from Sulayman bin al-Mughirah, from Humayd bin Hilal, from Abu Burdah, it is gharib (unusual).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abd Allah bin al-Rabi' is alone in this route, and he is not known.
