It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by, and I was with him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Ma'mar (may Allah be pleased with him) while both his thighs were uncovered, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ma'mar, cover your thighs, for the thighs are awrah." Similar narrations from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on this subject have also been reported from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
