It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a woman who had two little girls with her; she was carrying one of them and leading the other along. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are mothers who carry (their children) and are most merciful. Were it not for the shortcomings they commit in their husbands' rights, those of them who pray would certainly enter Paradise."
Imam al-Hakim said that this hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. And Imam Shu'bah narrated it from al-A'mash in mu'dal form (with two consecutive narrators missing):

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is da'if (weak) because of a break (inqita'), Technical note / Defect ('illah): since Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd explicitly stated that he did not hear this hadith from Abu Umamah, in Musnad Ahmad 36/ (22173), and also in the author's (al-Hakim's) next narration, where he said: "It was mentioned to me from Abu Umamah." The author pointed to this with his statement: "Shu'bah narrated it as mu'dal (with a break)." Imam al-Tirmidhi asked Imam al-Bukhari (as in "al-'Ilal al-Kabir" p. 386): Did Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd hear from Abu Umamah? He said: I do not think so. We say: Mu'ammal bin Isma'il has a poor memory. Note / Clarification: Sufyan is al-Thawri. Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (2013) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, from Mu'ammal bin Isma'il, with this chain.
Note / Clarification: (2) This is how it appears in the manuscripts, and it is a slip of the pen; the correct reading is "from Mansur" (who is Ibn al-Mu'tamir), as in the narration the author brought after it to prove that Shu'bah narrated the hadith as mu'dal.
