حدثناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدّثنا الربيع بن سليمان، حدّثنا بشر بن بكر، حدَّثني ابن جابر، حدّثنا عطاء الخُراسانيّ، قال: سمعتُ أبا إدريس الخَوْلاني يقول: دخلتُ مسجد حِمص، فجلستُ في حَلْقة كلُّهم يُحدِّث عن رسول الله ﷺ، وفيهم فتًى شاب إذا تكلَّم أنصت القومُ، وإذا حدث رجلًا منهم أنصتَ له، فتفرَّقوا ولم أعلم مَن ذلك الفتى، ثم ذكر الحديثَ بطوله (2).

It is narrated from Abu Idris al-Khawlani (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I entered the mosque of Hims and sat in a circle in which all the people were narrating hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Among them was a young man; when he spoke, all the people would listen attentively, and when he spoke to someone, that person would listen to him with full attention. Then the people dispersed, and I did not know at that time who that young man was. Then he mentioned the complete lengthy hadith.

(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد رجاله ثقات لكن اختُلف في سماع أبي إدريس الخولاني من معاذ كما بيناه عند الرواية (7502). ابن جابر: هو عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن جابر، وعطاء الخراساني: هو ابن أبي مسلم.
Grading: (2) This hadith is sahih,
Technical note / Defect ('illah): this is a chain whose narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), but there is disagreement about whether Abu Idris al-Khawlani heard from Mu'adh, as we explained under narration number (7502).
Note / Clarification: Ibn Jabir is 'Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani is Ibn Abi Muslim.
وأخرجه الطحاوي في "شرح المشكل" (3893) عن الربيع بن سليمان المراديّ، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam al-Tahawi in "Sharh Mushkil al-Athar" (3893) from al-Rabi' bin Sulayman al-Muradi, with this same chain.
وأخرجه الشاشي في "مسنده" (1235) و (1382) عن عيسى بن أحمد العسقلانيّ، عن بشر بن بكر، به.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Shashi in his "Musnad" (1235) and (1382) from 'Isa bin Ahmad al-'Asqalani, from Bishr bin Bakr, with this same chain.
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" 20/ (148)، و "الأوسط" (6860)، و "مسند الشاميين" (625) من طريق صدقة بن خالد، عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد بن جابر، به. وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" 20/ (146)، وفي "الشاميين" (2433) من طريق شعيب بن رزيق، وفي "الكبير" (147)، وفي "الشاميين" (744) و (2434) من طريق عتبة بن أبي حكيم، كلاهما عن عطاء الخراسانيّ، به.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" 20/ (148), "al-Awsat" (6860) and "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" (625) via the route of Sadaqah bin Khalid, from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir, with this same chain. Al-Tabarani also narrated it in "al-Kabir" 20/ (146) and "al-Shamiyyin" (2433) via the route of Shu'ayb bin Ruzayq, and in "al-Kabir" (147) and "al-Shamiyyin" (744) and (2434) via the route of 'Utbah bin Abi Hakim; both of them (Shu'ayb and 'Utbah) narrate it from 'Ata' al-Khurasani with this same chain.
