أخبرنا أبو الحسن علي بن محمد بن عُقْبة الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدّثنا إبراهيم بن إسحاق الزُّهْريّ، حدّثنا يعلى ومحمد ابنا عُبيد، حدّثنا أبَان بن إسحاق، عن الصَّبَّاح بن محمد (3) البَجَليّ، عن مُرّة الهَمْداني، عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إنَّ الله قَسَمَ بينَكم أخلاقَكم كما قَسَمَ بينَكم أرزاقَكم، وإِنَّ الله يُعطي المالَ من يُحِبُّ ومن لا يُحبُّ، ولا يُعطي الإيمانَ إلَّا من يُحبُّ، فمن أعطاه الله الإيمانَ فقده أحبَّه، والذي نفسُ محمدٍ بيده، لا يُسلِمُ عبدٌ حتى يُسلِمَ قلبُه، ولا يؤمنُ عبدٌ حتى يَأمَنَ جارُه بَوائِقَه" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has distributed your characters among you just as He has distributed your provisions among you. Allah Almighty gives wealth to those He loves and to those He does not love, but He gives faith only to those He loves. So whoever Allah has given faith, He has loved him. By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad ((peace and blessings be upon him))! No servant is (truly) a Muslim until his heart submits (to Allah), and no servant is a believer until his neighbour is safe from his bawa'iq (evils and harms)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name is corrupted into "Yahya".
(1) صحيح موقوفًا على ابن مسعود، وهذا إسناد ضعيف من أجل الصباح بن محمد البجلي.
Grading: This narration is sahih as "mawquf" on Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), but this chain is da'if (weak) because of al-Sabbah bin Muhammad al-Bajali.
وأخرجه أحمد (6/ 3672) عن محمد بن عبيد وحده، بهذا الإسناد مطولًا.
