أخبرنا أبو العباس السَّيّاري، أخبرنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدان، أخبرنا عبد الله، عن عبد الملك بن عيسى الثقفي، عن يزيد مولى المنبعث، عن أبي هريرة، عن النبيِّ ﷺ قال: "تَعلَّموا من أنسابكم ما تَصِلُون (2) به أرحامكم، فإنَّ صِلةَ الرَّحِم مَحبَّةٌ في الأهل، مَثْراةٌ في المال، مَنْسَأةٌ في الأَثَر" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Learn enough of your lineages to enable you to join your ties of kinship, for joining ties of kinship is a cause of love within the family, a means of increase in wealth, and a cause of increase in a person's lifespan and good remembrance."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) في النسخ الخطية: تصلوا، بحذف النون، والجادة ما أثبتنا.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this word is "tasilu" (with the nun dropped), whereas according to the standard rule the correct form is what we have established (in the text), i.e. "tasilun".
(3) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل عبد الملك بن عيسى الثقفي. أبو الموجِّه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفَزاري، وعبدان هو عبد الله بن عثمان المروزي، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is hasan because of 'Abd al-Malik bin 'Isa al-Thaqafi.
Note / Clarification: In the chain, "Abu al-Muwajjih" is Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari, "'Abdan" is 'Abdullah bin 'Uthman al-Marwazi, and "'Abdullah" is 'Abdullah bin al-Mubarak.
وأخرجه أحمد 14/ (8868)، والترمذي (1979) من طريقين عن عبد الله بن المبارك، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الترمذي: غريب من هذا الوجه، ومعنى قوله: "منسأة في الأثر" يعني: زيادة في العمر.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad (14/ 8868) and al-Tirmidhi (1979) via two routes from 'Abdullah bin al-Mubarak, with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "gharib" by this route. The meaning of the phrase "mansa'atun fi al-athar" is: an increase in lifespan.
وأخرج البخاري (5985) من طريق سعيد المقبري، عن أبي هريرة مرفوعًا: "من سرّه أن يُنسأ له في أثره، ويُبسَط له في رزقه، فليصل رحمه".
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam al-Bukhari (5985) via the route of Sa'id al-Maqburi from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), as marfu': "Whoever would be pleased to have his lifespan extended and his provision expanded, let him maintain ties of kinship."
وسلف أول الحديث برقم (306) من طريق أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة.
Important point: The first part of this hadith has already appeared at number (306) via the route of Abu Salamah from Abu Hurayrah.
