أخبرنا أبو جعفر محمد بن محمد البغدادي، حدثنا علي بن المبارك الصنعاني، حدثنا زيد بن المبارك، حدثنا محمد بن سليمان بن مَسمُول، حدثنا القاسم بن مُخوَّل البَهْزي (2)، سمع أباه يقول: قلتُ: يا رسولَ الله، أَوصِني، قال: "أقِمِ الصلاةَ، وأدِّ الزكاةَ، وصُمْ، رمضانَ، وحُجَّ البيت واعتمر، وبِرَّ والدَيكَ وصِلْ رَحِمَك، وأَقْرِ الضَّيفَ، وأمُرْ بالمعروف، وأنْهَ عن المنكر، وزُلْ مع الحقِّ حيث زال" (1). صحيح الإسناد بشيوخ اليمن، ولم يُخرجاه.

Al-Qasim bin Mukhawwal al-Bahzi narrates from his father that he said: O Messenger of Allah! Give me some advice. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Establish the prayer, pay the zakah, fast in Ramadan, perform Hajj of the House and Umrah, be kind to your parents, maintain ties of kinship, honour the guest, enjoin what is good, forbid what is evil, and stay with the truth wherever it is."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration through the Shaykhs of Yemen, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "al-Nahdi".
هذا وقد أُقحم في النسخ الخطية بين القاسم بن مخوّل وأبيه: "عن علي بن عبد الله بن عباس"، فصار الحديث من مسند ابن عباس ولم يتنبه لذلك الذهبي في "التلخيص" ولا ابن حجر في "الإتحاف"، وقد تقدَّم بعض هذا الحديث عند المصنف على الصواب برقم (7367)، وكذا وضعه في مسند مخوَّل البهزي المصنفون في الصحابة كما يأتي في التخريج.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts an intermediary "from 'Ali bin 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas" has been wrongly inserted between al-Qasim bin Mukhawwal and his father, so that the hadith became part of the Musnad of Ibn 'Abbas; neither al-Dhahabi in "al-Talkhis" nor Ibn Hajar in "al-Ithaf" noticed this error.
Important point: Yet part of this hadith has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) in its correct form under number (7367), and likewise the authors of works on the Companions placed it in the "Musnad of Mukhawwal al-Bahzi", as will come in the takhrij.

Grading: Its chain is weak. Muhammad bin Mismul is weak and al-Qasim bin Mukhawwal al-Bahzi is majhul (unknown).
وأخرجه مجموعًا إلى الرواية السالفة برقم (7367): أبو يعلى (1568)، وابن حبان (5882)، والطبراني في "الكبير" 20/ (763)، وأبو نعيم في "معرفة الصحابة" (6318)، وأبو القاسم قوام السنة في "الترغيب والترهيب" (2037) وليس عنده الرواية السالفة المذكورة - من طرق عن محمد بن سليمان بن مسمول عن القاسم بن مخوّل البهزي، عن أبيه مخوّل بن يزيد، به. فجعلوه من مسند مخول البهزي.
Reference / Source: Combined with the earlier narration number (7367), it was recorded by: Abu Ya'la (1568), Ibn Hibban (5882), al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (20/ 763), Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6318) and Abu al-Qasim Qiwam al-Sunnah in "al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib" (2037) - and he does not have the earlier narration mentioned - through various routes from Muhammad bin Sulayman bin Mismul, from al-Qasim bin Mukhawwal al-Bahzi, from his father Mukhawwal bin Yazid. So they all placed it in the "Musnad of Mukhawwal al-Bahzi".
