Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7444

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Anas al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), the father of Sahl bin Mu'adh, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is kind to his parents, glad tidings are for him; Allah will bless and increase his life span."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "Yahya".

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "Ziyad", while both this and the previous corruption appear correctly in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (16618).

Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (hasan due to supporting reports), but this particular chain is weak because of "Zabban bin Fa'id".
Reference / Source: This hadith is in the "al-Jami'" of 'Abdullah bin Wahb (111 - in the narration of Abu al-Khayr).
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari recorded it in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (22) and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7470) by way of Asbagh bin al-Faraj, from 'Abdullah bin Wahb, with this chain.

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Its meaning is supported by the hadith of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Bukhari (5986) and Muslim (2557), narrated as marfu': "Whoever would like his provision to be expanded and his life (athar) to be prolonged, let him maintain the ties of kinship."
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And (further support comes from) the hadith of 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that comes under number (7467), and it is a strong (qawi) hadith.
