Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 744

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the muezzin, he would say the same words as he said, until he fell silent.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This chain is fit to be graded hasan; although only Abu al-Malih narrated from Abd Allah bin Utbah (who is Ibn Abi Sufyan), and no explicit authentication of him is reported, he is a Tabi'i whom no one has criticized.
Important point: Here he is narrating from his paternal aunt, the Mother of the Believers Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Ibn Khuzaymah graded it sahih in his "Sahih" (412).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported by the general hadith, "When you hear the call, say the same as what the mu'adhdhin says," which al-Bukhari (611) and Muslim (383) recorded from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him).
Reference / Source: This hadith of Abd Allah bin Utbah was recorded by Ahmad 45/(27394), Ibn Majah (819) and al-Nasa'i (9780, 9781) by two routes through Abu Bishr, who is Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiyyah, with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ahmad 44/(26767) and al-Nasa'i (9782) recorded it with the chain Muhammad bin Ja'far (Ghundar) from Shu'bah, in which the name of Abd Allah bin Utbah has dropped out of the chain; but this narration is "ghayr mahfuz" (not preserved). The "mahfuz" (preserved) version is the one that a group of thiqah narrators transmitted from Shu'bah with the author (al-Hakim), in which the name of Abd Allah bin Utbah is present.
