إِذَا أَذَّنْتَ فَتَرَسَّلْ فِي أَذَانِكَ وَإِذَا أَقَمْتَ فَاحْدِرْ وَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَ أَذَانِكَ وَإِقَامَتِكَ قَدْرَ مَا يَفْرُغُ الْآكِلُ وَالشَّارِبُ مِنْ شُرْبِهِ
When you call the adhan, call it slowly, and when you call the iqamah, be quick, and leave between your adhan and iqamah enough time for one eating or drinking to finish

حدثنا أبو بكر أحمد بن إسحاق، أخبرنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا علي بن حمَّاد بن أبي طالب، حدثنا عبد المنعم بن نُعيم الرِّيَاحي، حدثنا عمرو بن فائد الأُسْواري، حدثنا يحيى بن مسلم، عن الحسن وعطاء، عن جابر بن عبد الله: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال لبلال: "إذا أذَّنتَ فترسَّلْ في أَذانك، وإذا أقمتَ فاحدُرْ، واجعل بين أَذانِك وإقامتِك قَدْرَ ما يَفْرُغُ الآكلَ من أكله، والشاربُ من شُربِه، والمعتصرُ إذا دخل لقضاءِ حاجَتِه" (1).
هذا حديث ليس في إسناده مطعونٌ فيه غير عمرو بن فائد والباقون شيوخ البصرة، وهذه سُنَّة غريبة لا أعرفُ لها إسنادًا غير هذا، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): "When you give the adhan, pronounce its words slowly and deliberately (tarassul), and when you call the iqamah, say it quickly and fluently, and leave between your adhan and your iqamah a pause long enough for one who is eating to finish his food, one who is drinking to finish his drink, and one who has gone to relieve himself to finish his need."
There is no criticised narrator in the chain of this hadith other than Amr bin Fa'id; this is a rare Sunnah for which I know no other chain.

(1) إسناده ضعيف جدًّا، عبد المنعم بن نعيم وعمرو بن فائد ضعيفان جدًّا، وقال فيهما الدارقطني: متروكان.
Grading: Its chain is severely weak (da'if jiddan); the narrators Abd al-Mun'im bin Nu'aym and Amr bin Fa'id are both extremely weak, and al-Daraqutni declared them "matruk" (abandoned).
وأخرجه الترمذي (195) و (196) من طريقين عن عبد المنعم بن نعيم، عن يحيى بن مسلم، بإسقاط عمرو بن فائد منه، وقال: حديث جابر هذا لا نعرفه إلّا من هذا الوجه من حديث عبد المنعم، وهو إسناد مجهول.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (195) and (196) recorded it by two routes from Abd al-Mun'im bin Nu'aym, in which Yahya bin Muslim is mentioned but the link of Amr bin Fa'id has dropped out.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tirmidhi said that this hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is known only through Abd al-Mun'im, and that it is a "majhul" (unknown) chain.
