It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Akhtab (may Allah be pleased with him); he relates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water, so I brought him water. There was a hair in it, which I removed. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: 'Allahumma jammilhu' (O Allah, make him handsome). The narrator says: I saw him when he was ninety-four years old, and there was not a single white hair on his head.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: This is a "sahih hadith", though this chain of it is "hasan" on account of Abu Nahik (who is 'Uthman bin Nahik al-Azdi) and a similar narrator, Ibrahim bin Hilal.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, these narrators are corroborated, and his biography has passed earlier at no. (420).
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in 37/ (22883), and Ibn Hibban in (7172) through the route of Ahmad bin Mansur; both of them (Ahmad and Ibn Mansur) narrate it from 'Ali bin al-Hasan bin Shaqiq with this same chain, and in their narration the age is given as "ninety-three (93) years".
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in (22881) and Ibn Hibban in (7172) through two routes from Husayn bin Waqid, and only Ibn Hibban's narration has the addition of "ninety-three (93)" (years of age).
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in (22885) and Ibn Hibban in (7170) through the route of Anas bin Sirin, from Abu Zayd bin Akhtab, who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "May Allah make you handsome."
Note / Clarification: Anas bin Sirin states that he (Abu Zayd) was a very handsome man and even the grey of his old age was very attractive.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in 34/ (20733), al-Tirmidhi in the "Sunan" (3629) and Ibn Hibban in (7171) through the route of 'Ilba' bin Ahmad, from Abu Zayd, who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Come close to me." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over his head and beard and supplicated: "O Allah, make him handsome and keep his beauty lasting."
Note / Clarification: The narrator says that he reached more than a hundred (100) years of age, yet there was no whiteness in his head and beard except a few hairs; he always remained cheerful of face, and the radiance of his face remained until his death.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
