It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The drink most beloved to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was that which was cool and sweet (water or sherbet).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it, because this narration from Ma'mar is not found with the Yemeni narrators.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (hasan due to its supporting reports). Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are thiqah (trustworthy), but there is disagreement in its narration from Ma'mar bin Rashid over "wasl" (the chain being connected) and "irsal" (the chain being mursal). Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah narrated it as connected (mawsul), as here, while 'Abd al-Razzaq bin Hammam and 'Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak narrated it as mursal. Yunus bin Yazid al-Ayli also corroborated Ma'mar in narrating it as mursal, and more than one of the imams held that its being "mursal" is correct. Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated this report in 40/ (24100), al-Tirmidhi in (1895) and al-Nasa'i in (6815) through the route of Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, with this same chain. Details of the narration: This report is in the "Jami'" of Ma'mar bin Rashid (19583) in the narration of 'Abd al-Razzaq from him. Al-Tirmidhi narrated it in (1896) through the route of Ibn al-Mubarak; both of them ('Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn al-Mubarak) narrate it from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as "mursal". Al-Tirmidhi said after it that the correct version is the one narrated from al-Zuhri as mursal. The corroboration by Yunus al-Ayli was also narrated by al-Tirmidhi in (1896) through his route, from al-Zuhri, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as mursal. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a narration from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), which is in the Musnad of Ahmad 5/ (3129), but in its chain there is an unnamed narrator ("mubham").
Note / Clarification: Probably the "mawsul" (connected) narration is meant here; otherwise 'Abd al-Razzaq bin Hammam al-Yamani narrated it only as mursal, as we have made clear in the takhrij.
