Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 737

Awn bin Abi Juhayfah narrates from his father, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) halt at al-Abtah.
The two Shaykhs recorded the hadith about the halt at al-Abtah, but they did not mention putting the fingers in the ears and turning the face during the adhan, although this is sahih (authentic) on their condition, and both of these practices are Sunnah.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): In copy (B) and in the printed edition, "Ibrahim bin Utbah" appears in place of "Sufyan bin Uyaynah", which is a mistake, whereas in the other manuscript copies it is correct.
Reference / Source: By way of Ibn Abi al-Shawarib it is also narrated in Abu Awanah's "Sahih" (1409), but the account of the adhan is not mentioned in it.
