It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any guest who stays with a people and that guest is deprived (of his right to hospitality), he has the right to take from them (without permission) as much as his hospitality is worth, and there is no sin upon him."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it, and it also has a corroborating report (shahid) with an authentic chain.

Grading: Its chain is sahih. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Imam Ahmad 14/(8948) through the route of Qutaybah bin Sa'id from al-Layth bin Sa'd, with this same chain. (6137). Note / Clarification: The phrase "bi-qadri qirahu" (with a kasrah under the qaf): this refers to the food and drink prepared for the hospitality of a guest. General principle: For details of its legal ruling, see al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar's "Fath al-Bari" under hadith numbers (2461) and (6137).
