حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الربيع بن سليمان، حدثنا أَسد بن موسى، حدثنا مسلم بن خالد، حدثني زيد بن أسلم، عن سُمَيّ، عن أبي صالح، عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إذا دخلَ أحدُكم على أخيه فأطعَمَه طعامًا، فليأكُلْ منه ولا يَسأَلْه عنه، وإن سَقَاه شرابًا فليشرَبْ منه ولا يَسألْ عنه" (1). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. وله شاهدٌ صحيح على شرط مسلم وحدَه: [التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] ترقيم العلميه 7160 - صحيح
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you visits his brother and he gives him food to eat, let him eat it and not ask him about it; and if he gives him a drink, let him drink it and not ask about it."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف، مسلم بن خالد - وهو الزنجي - ضعيف. سُمَي: هو القرشي المخزومي مولاهم. Grading: Its chain is "da'if" (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrator Muslim bin Khalid (who is known by the title al-Zanji) is weak. Note / Clarification: "Sumayy" here refers to al-Qurashi al-Makhzumi, their client (mawla). وأخرجه أحمد 15/ (9184) عن حسين بن محمد، عن مسلم بن خالد، بهذا الإسناد. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Imam Ahmad 15/(9184) through the route of Husayn bin Muhammad from Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji, with this same chain.
