It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a bowl containing milk and honey (mixed together) was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two condiments in one vessel?! I will not eat it, nor do I declare it unlawful."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: Manuscripts (Z) and (M) have the words "fihi laban min 'asal" (milk of honey), whereas we have recorded the correct wording according to manuscript (S) and the other source works.
Grading: Its chain is "da'if" (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): No one narrated from the narrator Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Kabir except his son 'Abd al-Quddus, and no one other than Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy, so he is counted among the "majhul" (unknown) narrators. His uncle 'Abd al-Salam bin Shu'ayb is in the same condition, in that only Ibn Hibban called him thiqah. Imam al-Bukhari declared this hadith "munkar", as al-Diya' al-Maqdisi transmitted in "al-Mukhtarah", and Imam al-Dhahabi called it "munkar" in the "Talkhis". Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar called it weak in "Fath al-Bari" 16/479 because of the narrators being unknown. Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Awsat" (7404) through 'Abd al-Quddus bin Muhammad and said 'Abd al-Salam was alone in it, but in the narration of al-Qasim bin Musa and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi, in place of Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Kabir the name of his brother "Salih bin 'Abd al-Kabir" appears, and this Salih too is "majhul al-hal" (of unknown condition). Note / Clarification: The word "al-qa'b" means: a large bowl (a large vessel). Note / Clarification: The word "al-udman" is actually the dual (two) of "udm", and "udm" or "idam" is the relish or food that is eaten with bread.
