This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "hasan" by the combination of all its routes and supporting reports.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are thiqah (trustworthy), but Imam 'Abd al-Razzaq al-San'ani was inconsistent (idtirab) in it, sometimes narrating it as "mawsul" (connected) and sometimes as "mursal", as will become clear below.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ibn Majah (3319), al-Tirmidhi (1851) and al-Tahawi in "Sharh Mushkil al-Athar" (4449) and (4450) through various routes from Imam 'Abd al-Razzaq, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ma'mar bin Rashid in his "al-Jami'" (19568) in the transmission of 'Abd al-Razzaq, and through 'Abd al-Razzaq by Imam al-Tirmidhi (1851 M), from Ma'mar, from Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as "mursal".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Tirmidhi says that 'Abd al-Razzaq was inconsistent in narrating this hadith: sometimes he narrated it from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) as marfu', sometimes with doubt ("ahsabuhu" - I think it is), and sometimes he made it mursal from Zayd bin Aslam via his father. Abu Hatim said something similar in "al-'Ilal" (1520).
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Imam al-Tahawi (4448) and al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (9196) through the route of Abu Qurrah Musa bin Tariq, from Zam'ah bin Salih, from Ziyad bin Sa'd, from Zayd bin Aslam, via his father, from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Zam'ah bin Salih is weak, his narration is acceptable in corroborating chains and supporting reports.
Important point: This hadith has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) from the narration of Abu Usayd at number (3546) and from the narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) at number (3547).
Note / Clarification: The permission to treat with olive oil came in the hadith of Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), which the author will mention later at number (7631).
