It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would hold fresh dates in his right hand and a melon in his left, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat the fresh dates together with the melon, and it was the most beloved fruit to him (peace and blessings be upon him).
Yusuf bin Atiyyah is alone in narrating this hadith, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not use him as evidence. This text is also known, in wording other than this, from the hadith of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "extremely weak". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yusuf bin Atiyyah is a "matruk" narrator. Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Shu'ab" (5594) via al-Hakim with this same chain. Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (7907), Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" (8/153), Abu al-Shaykh in "Akhlaq al-Nabi" (681), Tammam in his "Fawa'id" (1307), Abu Nu'aym in "al-Tibb al-Nabawi" (833) and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Shu'ab" (5593) through the route of Muhammad bin Amr bin al-Abbas from Yusuf bin Atiyyah. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tabarani says that only Matar narrated it from Qatadah, and only Yusuf bin Atiyyah from Matar. Ibn Adi says that most of Yusuf's hadiths are such that no corroboration (mutaba'ah) is found for them. Al-Bayhaqi also declared him weak. Grading: This hadith is established as "sahih" from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) in a different context (wording). Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (19/12449), al-Tirmidhi in "al-Shama'il" (200), al-Nasa'i (6692) and Ibn Hibban (5248) through the route of Wahb bin Jarir, from Jarir bin Hazim, from Humayd al-Tawil, that Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) eating fresh dates and 'khirbiz' (melon) together". Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" (4/335-336) through the route of Abbad bin Kathir al-Thaqafi, from Hisham bin Urwah, from his father, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: "Among fruits, the ones most beloved to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) were fresh dates and melon", and that he used to eat khirbiz with dates. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrator Abbad bin Kathir is "matruk" (unreliable).
