Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7284

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that a wolf wounded a goat with its teeth, so the people slaughtered it with a sharp stone (marwah), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted permission to eat it.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported by the hadith of Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari (2304): their sheep were grazing on Mount Sal', when a slave girl saw one of the sheep dying, so she broke a stone and slaughtered it with it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that it be eaten.
