It is narrated from Sayyiduna Safwan bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me separating meat from the bone with my hand (tearing it off), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Safwan!" I said: Here I am at your service. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring the meat close to your mouth (and bite it off with your teeth), for that is the more enjoyable, pleasant and easily digested way."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In our manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "Safwan bin Abi Umayyah".
16/ 430. Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (sound due to supporting reports). Technical note / Defect ('illah): This particular chain is weak because of the weakness of Abd al-Rahman bin Mu'awiyah al-Zuraqi and because of a break in the chain (inqita'), since it is not established that Uthman bin Abi Sulayman heard from Safwan bin Umayyah. It also has two further weak routes, but al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "Fath al-Bari" (16/430) that through the combination of all these routes the hadith becomes "hasan". Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (24/15309 and 45/27634) through the route of Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq with this same chain. Details of the narration: It was narrated by Ahmad (24/15300 and 45/27634), al-Tirmidhi (1835) and al-Tabarani (7331), with the wording: "Bite the meat off the bone with your front teeth, for it is more wholesome and easier to digest". Technical note / Defect ('illah): In these routes Abd al-Karim bin Abi al-Mukhariq, Uthman bin Abd al-Rahman and Muhammad bin al-Fadl are all weak narrators. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has a supporting report from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) in Abu Dawud (3778), but its chain is also weak. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: From his (peace and blessings be upon him) own practice, it is supported by the hadith of Abu Hurayrah found in al-Bukhari (3340) and Muslim (194): "We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at a banquet, and the foreleg was presented to him, which he liked, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) bit a piece off it with his front teeth". (7095). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Likewise the hadith of Duba'ah bint al-Zubayr is also a supporting report, which has passed at number (7095).
