It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not eat the sharitah (slaughtered animal), for it is the slaughter of Satan." Ibn al-Mubarak (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Sharitah" means that the animal's throat (the windpipe and the gullet) is not cut completely, but merely a cut is made in the skin and it is left until its life departs through that very wound.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is weak because of the weakness of Amr bin Abdullah al-Yamani, although Nu'aym bin Hammad has corroboration (mutaba'ah). Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (4/2618), Abu Dawud (2826) and Ibn Hibban (5888) through the route of Abdullah bin al-Mubarak. Important point: Ibn Hibban did not mention Ibn Abbas in his narration, and he transmitted from Ikrimah the explanation of "sharitah": "People would cut a small part of the animal and leave it to die, without fully cutting the jugular veins (wadaj)".
