Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7282

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the devils used to whisper into the hearts of their allies that they should say (to the Muslims): What Allah has slaughtered (that is, an animal that died by itself) you do not eat, yet what you slaughter yourselves you eat? So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned (at the time of slaughter)." [Surah al-An'am: 121]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
