Muhammad bin Hamzah bin Abdullah bin Salam narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him)), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with some of his Companions when Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came driving a camel loaded with two large sacks, holding it by the camel's rope. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "What do you have with you?" He replied: Flour, ghee and honey. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Make (the camel) kneel." So he made it kneel. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a large cooking pot and put some of that flour, ghee and honey into it, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) cooked it well. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate, and the Companions ate as well. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: "Eat, for this resembles the khabis (a particular sweet dish) of the people of Persia."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In manuscripts (Z) and (S) this word is written "yahtajibna", while we have recorded the correct word according to manuscripts (S) and (B).
Grading: Its chain is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hamzah bin Abdullah bin Salam (correct name: Hamzah bin Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam) is "majhul al-hal" (of unknown condition); only his son Muhammad narrated from him, and no one other than Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy. Here "his grandfather" (jaddihi) refers to the eminent Companion Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him), as is stated explicitly in the narration of al-Tabarani. Note / Clarification: Al-Walid bin Muslim refers to al-Dimashqi, and Ubayd bin Sharik refers to Ibn Abd al-Wahid bin Sharik. Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (14953) through the route of al-Muttalib bin Shu'ayb al-Azdi, from Muhammad bin Abd al-Aziz al-Ramli, with this same chain. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Bakr al-Shafi'i in "al-Ghaylaniyyat" (988), al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (7688) and "al-Saghir" (833), and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (5533) through the route of Muhammad bin al-Mutawakkil from al-Walid bin Muslim. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tabarani says that this narration is reported from Abdullah bin Salam only with this chain, and al-Walid bin Muslim is alone in narrating it. In the narration of Abu Bakr al-Shafi'i and al-Bayhaqi the words are "from his grandfather or someone else". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Tammam narrated it in "al-Fawa'id" (1623) and in "Juz' Islam Zayd bin Harithah" (3) through the route of Muhammad bin al-Mutawakkil, from al-Walid, from Muhammad bin Hamzah bin Yusuf bin Abdullah, from his father, from his grandfather, from Abdullah bin Salam, but the correct version is what the group of narrators reported. Important point: The singular of the word "al-ghirartan" is "ghirarah" (with a kasrah on the ghayn); it is the sack or container in which dry bread, dried meat or other provisions for travel are kept. Note / Clarification: "Muhtajiz bi-'iqal naqatihi" means that he had tied his she-camel's rope ('iqal) around his waist as a belt. Important point: "Al-burmah" is a cooking pot of clay or stone.
