It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) (who was a Companion of the Messenger) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings (Tuba) are for the one who saw me, and glad tidings are for the one who saw the one who saw me, and for the one who saw the one who saw the one who saw me and believed in me."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) The vocalisation of the word 'Jumay'' is reported in both ways, like Zubayr (diminutive form) and like Amir; al-Zabidi said this in "Taj al-'Arus" (20/470). As for 'Thuwab', it is with a dammah on the tha' and a fathah on the waw (on the pattern of Zufar); see "Taj al-'Arus" (2/112).

Grading: (2) Its chain is very weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Regarding the narrator Jumay' bin Thuwab, Imam al-Bukhari, Abu Hatim and al-Daraqutni said he is "munkar al-hadith", and Imam al-Nasa'i declared him "matruk al-hadith". Moreover, he narrates only from the Successors and did not reach the generation of the Companions; his explicit statement in al-Hakim's Mustadrak that he 'heard' from Abd Allah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) is either the result of a dropped link (saqt) in the chain, or he is lying.
Important point: This hadith of Abd Allah bin Busr is known only through the route of Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman al-Yahsubi, as will come. Imam al-Dhahabi declared it weak in "al-Talkhis", saying: "Jumay' is wahin (extremely weak)."
Reference / Source: Ya'qub bin Sufyan al-Fasawi narrated it in "al-Ma'rifah wa al-Tarikh" (2/351), from him Ibn Abi Asim in "al-Sunnah" (1486), and through Ibn Abi Asim, al-Diya' al-Maqdisi recorded it in "al-Mukhtarah" (9/71). Also Abu Ya'la (as in al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 4176) and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi (9/86, 87) narrated it through the chain of Baqiyyah bin al-Walid from Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman al-Yahsubi from Abd Allah bin Busr.
Details of the narration: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings (Tuba) for the one who saw me, and glad tidings for the one who believed in me though he did not see me; for him is Tuba and a good place of return."
Grading: Baqiyyah bin al-Walid is 'hasan al-hadith' in corroborating chains and supporting reports, and he stated explicitly that each narrator heard it, at every level of the chain.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym narrated it in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6437) through the chain of Jumay' bin Thuwab from Abd al-Rahman bin Jubayr from his father from his grandfather (Nufayr), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tuba (glad tidings) for the one who saw me, and for the one who saw the one who saw me, and for the one who saw the one who saw the one who saw me."
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Here it has been made part of the Musnad of Nufayr, but Jumay' bin Thuwab, as mentioned before, is a 'matruk' narrator.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic Imam Ahmad (28/17388) narrated from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Juhani: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when two riders appeared. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are people of Kindah and Madhhij." One man stretched out his hand to pledge allegiance and asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is there for one who saw you, believed and followed? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For him is Tuba." Then the other stretched out his hand and asked: What is there for one who believed in you and followed without seeing you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For him is Tuba, then Tuba, then Tuba (three times)."
Grading: Its chain is 'hasan'.
Reference / Source: The narration of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) is in Imam Ahmad (18/11673): a man said: O Messenger of Allah! Tuba for the one who saw you and believed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tuba for the one who saw me and believed, then Tuba, then Tuba, then Tuba for the one who believed in me and did not see me."
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Reference / Source: The narration of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) is in Imam Ahmad (20/12578): the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tuba for the one who believed in me and saw me (he said it once), and Tuba for the one who believed in me and did not see me (he said it seven times)."
Grading: This chain is also weak.
Note / Clarification: Explaining the word "Tuba", Ibn al-Athir said in "al-Nihayah": Tuba is a name of Paradise, and it is also said to be the name of a tree in Paradise. Linguistically it is from 'al-tib' on the pattern 'fu'la'; when the 'ta'' took a dammah, the 'ya'' changed into a waw.
