Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7152

حدثني محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدَّثنا السَّرِي بن خُزيمة، حدَّثنا محمد بن كَثير، حدَّثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن ثابت، عن أنس: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ استقبل (1) غِلمانًا من غِلمان الأنصار وإماءً وعَبيدًا، فقال: "والله إنِّي لأُحبُّكم" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came across some boys, slave-women and slaves of the Ansar, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, I certainly love you all."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): Our manuscripts have "ista'mala", but we have established the text according to the Mahmudiyyah manuscript, since it agrees with the other sources of the takhrij.

(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن في المتابعات والشواهد من أجل محمد بن كثير - وهو ابن أبي عطاء الثقفي - وقد توبع.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is "hasan" in corroborations and supporting reports because of Muhammad bin Kathir (Ibn Abi Ata' al-Thaqafi), and he has also been corroborated.
وأخرجه أحمد 21/ (14043) عن عفان، وابن حبان (4329) من طريق هدبة بن خالد، كلاهما عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 21/ (14043) from Affan, and by Ibn Hibban (4329) by way of Hudbah bin Khalid; both of them narrate it from Hammad bin Salamah with this chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 19/ (12522) من طريق محمد بن ثابت، عن أبيه ثابت بنحوه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it similarly at 19/ (12522) by way of Muhammad bin Thabit, from his father Thabit (bin Aslam) al-Bunani.
وأخرجه أحمد 20/ (12797)، والبخاري (3785) و (5180)، ومسلم (2508) (174) من طريق عبد العزيز بن صهيب، عن أنس بنحوه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad 20/ (12797), al-Bukhari (3785, 5180) and Muslim (2508) (174) narrated it with similar meaning with the chain Abd al-Aziz bin Suhayb, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
وأخرج أحمد 19/ (12305) و (12306) و 21/ (13711)، والبخاري (3786) و (5234) و (6645)، ومسلم (2509) (175)، والنسائي (8271)، وابن حبان (7270) من طريق هشام بن زيد، عن أنس: أنَّ امرأة من الأنصار أتت النبيَّ ﷺ معها أولادٌ لها، فقال النبي ﷺ: "والذي نفسي بيده، إنكم لأحبُّ الناس إليَّ" قالها ثلاث مرار.
Reference / Source: Ahmad 19/ (12305, 12306) and 21/ (13711), al-Bukhari (3786, 5234, 6645), Muslim (2509) (175), al-Nasa'i (8271) and Ibn Hibban (7270) narrated by way of Hisham bin Zayd, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that a woman of the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with her children, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times: "By the One in whose hand is my soul! You are the most beloved of people to me."
وأخرج أحمد أيضًا 20/ (12950) و (13137)، والنسائي (8270)، وابن حبان (7266) و (7271) من طريق حميد الطويل، عن أنس بن مالك قال: خرج نبي الله ﷺ، فتلقَّته الأنصار بينهم، فقال: "والذي نفس محمد بيده، إني لأُحبُّكم، إنَّ الأنصار قد قَضَوا ما عليهم، وبقي الذي عليكم، فأحسنوا إلى محسنهم، وتجاوزوا عن مسيئهم".
Reference / Source: Ahmad 20/ (12950, 13137), al-Nasa'i (8270) and Ibn Hibban (7266, 7271) narrated it with the chain Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and the Ansar received him, and he said: "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! I love you. The Ansar have fulfilled what was upon them, and what is upon you remains (to recognise their right); so do good to those of them who do good, and overlook those of them who do wrong."
