Hamzah bin Abi Sa'id al-Khudri narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say on the pulpit: "What is the matter with people who say that my kinship will not benefit? Of course it will, by Allah! My kinship is connected in both this world and the Hereafter. And, O people, I will be your forerunner (the one who receives you) at the Pond of Kawthar. When I am there, some men will stand up; one of them will say: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am so-and-so,' and another will say: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am so-and-so.' Then I will say: 'I have recognized you, but after me you introduced new things (into the religion) and turned back on your heels (to your former religion).'"
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The third occurrence of the statement "wa qala hadha .. ana fulan" is not found in manuscripts (M) and (S).
Grading: Its chain is "da'if" (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason is that Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil is alone in narrating it, and he is not a "strong" narrator. Moreover, he was inconsistent (idtirab) in it: sometimes he narrated it from Hamzah bin Abi Sa'id, sometimes from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab, and sometimes from Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id. Ibn Aqil is alone in narrating from Hamzah bin Abi Sa'id, and no declaration of his reliability is established from any authoritative imam. Note / Clarification: For a detailed discussion of it, see "Musnad Ahmad". Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 17/ (11138) with the chain Abu Amir al-Aqadi, from Zuhayr bin Muhammad, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Ya'la (1238) narrated it by way of Abu Amir al-Aqadi himself, but he mentioned the name "Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id" in place of Hamzah. Details of the narration: Ahmad reported it at 17/ (11139) and 18/ (11591) with the chain Ubaydullah bin Amr, from Ibn Aqil, from Hamzah bin Abi Sa'id, from his father (Abu Sa'id al-Khudri), just like the narration of al-Hakim. (4735). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ahmad (17/ 11345) narrated it by way of Sharik al-Nakha'i with the chain "Ibn Aqil from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab", but Sharik is "of poor memory" (sayyi' al-hifz). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: For a supporting report for the first part of the hadith, see the narration of Ali bin al-Husayn from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) (number 4735). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A supporting report for the second part of this hadith is the narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih al-Bukhari (6585): "On the Day of Resurrection a group of my companions will come to me at the Basin, but they will be driven away from it; (I will say: My Lord, my companions! It will be said: You have no knowledge of what they innovated after you;) they turned back on their heels." ". Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Another narration of Abu Hurayrah is in Sahih Muslim (247): "My ummah will come to me at the Basin (the hadith continues); your distinguishing mark will be that your hands, feet and foreheads will be shining from the traces of wudu', but some people will be kept away from me." (2304). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar narration is also reported from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih al-Bukhari (6582) and Sahih Muslim (2304).
