(1). It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Hani' (may Allah be pleased with her): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) proposed marriage to me, and I excused myself, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted my excuse. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse, from "O Prophet! We have made lawful for you your wives whose dowries you have paid" up to "and those women who emigrated with you" [Surah al-Ahzab: 50]. Sayyidah Umm Hani' (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I was not lawful for him (peace and blessings be upon him), because I had not emigrated with him (peace and blessings be upon him); rather, I was one of the "Tulaqa'" (the people set free at the Conquest of Makkah).

(3616). Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the word here was distorted into "al-Sha'bi", while the correct reading is established from the two earlier narrations, nos. (2789) and (3616).
Grading: This chain is "da'if" because of Abu Salih, and the discussion of him has already passed.
