! It is narrated from Muhammad bin Umar (al-Waqidi) that it has been mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), before the beginning of revelation, proposed to his uncle Abu Talib for marriage to Umm Hani'. Hubayrah bin Abi Wahb also proposed at the same time, and Abu Talib married her to Hubayrah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O uncle! You married her to Hubayrah and left me?" He replied: O my nephew! I have formed a marriage tie with them, and a noble man repays a noble man in kind. Then she (Umm Hani') accepted Islam, and Islam separated her from Hubayrah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) proposed to her himself, and she said: By Allah! I used to love (and revere) you even in the days of Jahiliyyah, so what will my state be now in the days of Islam! (That is, now the love is all the greater.)

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Details of the narration: Hisham bin Muhammad bin al-Sa'ib al-Kalbi narrated this report from his father, from Abu Salih, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) (as in "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" 10/ 146). At its end there is the addition that Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "But I am a woman with young children, and I dislike that they should cause you harm." Important point: Thereupon he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of the women who ride camels are the women of Quraysh: the most tender toward their children in childhood, and the most protective of their husband's wealth and property." Grading: Hisham al-Kalbi and his father are both "muttaham" (accused of lying), so one cannot rejoice over their narration (it is unreliable).
