It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Al-Muhajir bin Abi Umayyah (later) married Asma' bint al-Nu'man, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to punish her. But Asma' said: "By Allah! The command of the veil (hijab) was never applied to me, nor was I ever given the name Mother of the Believers." So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) refrained from her.
