Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 698

حدَّثَناه أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا الحسن بن علي بن زياد، حدّثنا إبراهيم بن موسى الفرَّاء، حدّثنا عبَّاد بن العوَّام، عن عمر بن إبراهيم ومَعمَر، عن قَتَادة، عن الحسن، عن الأحنف بن قيس، عن العباس بن عبد المطَّلب، عن النبيّ ﷺ قال: "لا يزالُ أمرُ أمَّتي على الفِطْرة ما لم يؤخِّروا المغربَ حتى تَشتبِكَ النجومُ" (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The affair of my Ummah will remain upon the fitrah as long as they do not delay the Maghrib prayer until the stars shine out."

(1) إسناده حسن، الحسن بن علي بن زياد حسن الحديث، وعمر بن إبراهيم ومعمر وإن كان في روايتهما عن قتادة مقال، إلّا أنهما هنا قد تابع أحدهما الآخر. ووقع في المطبوع من "سنن البيهقي" 1/ 448 المصنّف في هذا الإسناد عمر بن إبراهيم عن معمر عن قتادة!!
Grading: Its chain is hasan; the narrator al-Hasan bin Ali bin Ziyad is 'hasan al-hadith'.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although there is criticism of the narration of Umar bin Ibrahim and Ma'mar from Qatadah, here each of them corroborates the other (mutaba'ah).
Note / Clarification: In the printed edition of "Sunan al-Bayhaqi" 1/ 448, the chain was mistakenly printed as: "Umar bin Ibrahim from Ma'mar from Qatadah".
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (689) عن محمد بن يحيى، عن إبراهيم بن موسى، بهذا الإسناد. ولم يذكر فيه معمرًا.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (689) narrated it from Muhammad bin Yahya, from Ibrahim bin Musa, with this same chain, but did not mention Ma'mar in it.
