Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6942

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) acquired the captives of Banu al-Mustaliq, Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith bin Abi Dirar fell to the share of Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas (may Allah be pleased with him). So she made a contract (mukatabah, an agreement to pay for her freedom) with him for her freedom. She was a beautiful woman; whoever saw her could not help being taken by her. So she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to seek help in paying her mukatabah.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ishaq explicitly stated that he heard it (haddathani etc.) in sources other than the author (al-Hakim), so the suspicion of his tadlis is removed.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (43/ 26365), Abu Dawud (3931) and Ibn Hibban (4054, 4055) narrated it at length through various routes from Muhammad bin Ishaq with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: A similar, longer narration will come under number (6944) by way of Ibn Thawban from 'A'ishah.
