أخبرني أبو جعفر البغدادي، حدثنا محمد بن عمرو بن خالد، حدثنا أبي، حدثنا ابن لَهِيعة، حدثنا أبو الأَسوَد، عن عُرْوة، في تسميَةِ مَن شَهِدَ بدرًا من الأنصار: نعمانُ بن مالك بن ثَعلَبة بن أصرَمَ، وهو الذي يقال له: قَوقَلٌ. وقد روى جابرُ بن عبد الله عن النُّعمان بن قَوقَل:
It is narrated from Urwah, in his listing of the names of those Companions from the Ansar who took part in the Battle of Badr, that among them was Nu'man bin Malik bin Tha'labah bin Asram, and he is the one who is called Qawqal. And Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) has narrated from Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Qawqal.
