حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا أحمد بن عبد الجبّار، حدثنا يونس بن بُكَير، عن ابن إسحاق قال: والنُّعمانُ بنُ قوقل- وقَوقَلٌ اسمه مالك- ابن ثَعلَبة بن دَعْد بن فِهْر (2) بن ثَعلَبة بن غَنْم بن سالم بن عَوْف بن عَمرو بن عَوْف ابن الخَزرج، والقَواقِلُ هم رَهْطُ عُبادةَ بن الصامت.
It is narrated from Ibn Ishaq that al-Nu'man bin Qawqal (and Qawqal's name was Malik) was the son of Tha'labah bin Da'd bin Fihr bin Tha'labah bin Ghanm bin Salim bin Awf bin Amr bin Awf bin al-Khazraj, and al-Qawaqil are the clan of Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him).
