Mustadrak al-Hakim 662 — Passing water between the fingers in wudu

أخبرنا عبد الله بن الحسين القاضي، حَدَّثَنَا الحارث بن أبي أسامة، حَدَّثَنَا أبو النَّضر هاشم بن القاسم، حَدَّثَنَا عيسى بن المسيَّب، حَدَّثَنَا أبو زُرْعة، عن أبي هريرة قال: كان رسول الله ﷺ يأتي دار قوم من الأنصار ودونهم دُورٌ لا يأتيها، فشَقَّ ذلك عليهم فقالوا: يا رسول الله، تأتي دارَ فلان ولا تأتي دارَنا؟! فقال النَّبِيّ ﷺ: "إِنَّ في دارِكم كلبًا" قالوا: إنَّ في دارِهم سِنَّورًا، فقال النَّبِيّ ﷺ: "السِّنَّورُ سَبُع" (1).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit a house of the Ansar, and did not go to other houses near them. This weighed on them, and they said: "O Messenger of Allah! You go to so-and-so's house but you do not come to ours?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is a dog in your house." They said: "But there is a cat in their house too." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The cat is a beast of prey (and is pure)."

(1) إسناده ضعيف لضعف عيسى بن المسيب، وبه ضعَّفه الذهبي في "تلخيصه". أبو زرعة: هو ابن عمرو بن جرير البَجلي.
Grading: Its chain is weak due to the weakness of Isa bin al-Musayyab, and for this reason al-Dhahabi declared it weak in his "Talkhis".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): "Abu Zur'ah" is Abu Zur'ah bin Amr bin Jarir al-Bajali.
وأخرجه أحمد 14/ (8342) عن هاشم بن القاسم، بهذا الإسناد.
