It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of the women of her time is Maryam bint Imran, and the best of the women of her time is Khadijah (bint Khuwaylid)."
Most of Hisham's students have narrated it in this way, and it is recorded in this form in the two Sahihs of the two Shaykhs.

(3879). Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): This narration is actually through 'Abd Allah bin Ja'far, from his uncle 'Ali bin Abi Talib, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The senior students of Hisham bin 'Urwah narrated it from him in this way, as explained under number (3879). Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Nu'aym al-Asbahani in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (349) from Abu Bakr bin Khallad, from Muhammad bin al-Faraj and al-Harith bin Abi Usamah, from Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin Kunasah, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin al-Faraj mentioned 'Ali in the chain of his narration, while al-Harith did not mention him.
