حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا معاذ بن هانئ، حدثنا يحيى بن العلاء، حدثنا الله عبد بن محمد بن عَقِيل، عن عبد الله بن جعفر بن أبي طالب قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ ينهى عن ثَمَن الكلب وكَسْب الحَجَّام (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding the price (earnings) of a dog and the wage of the cupper.

(3) إسناده واهٍ من أجل يحيى بن العلاء -وهو البجلي أبو سلمة الرازي- فإنه متروك الحديث واتهمه الإمام أحمد بالكذب.
Grading: This chain is extremely weak (wahin).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason is "Yahya bin al-'Ala' al-Bajali" (Abu Salamah al-Razi), who is "matruk al-hadith" (abandoned in hadith), and Imam Ahmad accused him of lying.
وأخرجه ابن عدي في "الكامل" 7/ 199 من طريق عبّاس بن محمد، عن معاذ بن هانئ، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (7/ 199) via 'Abbas bin Muhammad, from Mu'adh bin Hani', with this chain.
ويغني عنه غير ما حديثٍ في هذا الباب، منها حديث أبي جحيفة عند أحمد 31/ (18756)، والبخاري (2086) وغيرهما. وحديث أبي هريرة عند أحمد 13/ (7976) وغيره، وانظر تتمة شواهده هناك.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Instead of this weak narration, other hadiths in this chapter suffice, such as the narration of Abu Juhayfah in Ahmad (31/ 18756), al-Bukhari (2086) and others, and the narration of Abu Hurayrah in Ahmad (13/ 7976) and elsewhere. For the remaining supporting reports refer to those places.
