حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الحسن بن علي، حدثنا أبو أُسامة، عن هشام بن عُرْوة، عن أبيه، عن ابن عمر: أنَّ رجلًا سأله عن مسألةٍ، فقال: لا عِلمَ لي بها، فلما أدبَرَ الرجلُ قال ابن عمر: نِعمَ ما قال ابنُ عمر، سُئِلَ عَمَّا لا يعلمُ فقال: لا عِلمَ لي بها (5). ذكرُ رافع بن خَدِيج ﵁-
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked him about an issue, and he said: "I have no knowledge of it." When the man turned his back and left, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said (in acknowledgement of a blessing): "How well Ibn Umar answered! He was asked about something he did not know, and he said (without hesitation): I have no knowledge of it."

(5) إسناده صحيح. الحسن بن علي: هو ابن عفان العامري، وأبو أسامة: هو حماد بن أسامة. وأخرجه الدارمي في "مسنده" (185) من طريق علي بن مسهر، عن هشام بن عروة، به. Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Hasan bin 'Ali is "Ibn 'Affan al-'Amiri", and Abu Usamah is "Hammad bin Usamah". Reference / Source: Imam al-Darimi narrated it in his "Musnad" (185) via 'Ali bin Mushir, from Hisham bin 'Urwah, with the same chain.
