Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6517

(3) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: محمد بن الحصين القاري، وليس في شيوخ المصنف من يسمى هكذا، والصواب ما أثبتنا، وانظر التعليق على ترجمة هذا الشيخ فيما سلف عند المصنف يسمى برقم (2436).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this has been corrupted here into "Muhammad bin al-Husayn al-Qari", whereas there is no one of this name among the teachers of the author (al-Hakim). The correct name is the one we have recorded in the text; for this shaykh's biography see the note under the earlier hadith number (2436) in the author's book.

(4) إسناده ضعيف جدًّا، عبد الجبار بن عمر ضعيف منكر الحديث، ووهّاه أبو زرعة الرازي، وقال الذهبي في "تلخيصه" بإثر الخبر: هذا باطل.
Grading: Its chain is extremely weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Abd al-Jabbar bin 'Umar is weak and "munkar al-hadith"; Abu Zur'ah al-Razi declared him "wahin" (very weak); and Imam al-Dhahabi wrote in the "Talkhis" immediately after this narration: "This is false (batil)."
وقد أخرج البخاري في "صحيحه" (4186) من طريق صخر بن جويرية، عن نافع مولى ابن عمر قال: إنَّ الناس يتحدثون أنَّ ابن عمر أسلم قبل عمر، وليس كذلك، ولكن عمر يوم الحديبية … ثم ذكر قصة بيَّن فيها أنَّ ابن عمر إنما بايع في الحديبية قبل أبيه عمر، ثم قال نافع: فهي التي يتحدث الناس أنَّ ابن عمر أسلم قبل عمر.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari narrated in his "Sahih" (4186), via Sakhr bin Juwayriyah from Nafi', that:
Details of the narration: Nafi' said that people spread the talk that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam before his father 'Umar, whereas that is not so; rather, what happened is that on the day of al-Hudaybiyah Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the pledge before his father 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Nafi' said that it is because of this that people say he accepted Islam first.
