فأخبرني مَخلَدُ بن جعفر، حدثنا محمد بن جَرِيرٍ قال: زَعَمَ الواقديُّ أنَّ الضحاك بن قيس لم يَسمَعْ من النبيِّ ﷺ، وزَعَم غيرُه أنه سمع من النبي ﷺ (2) فنقولُ وبالله التوفيق: إِنَّ الصواب قولُ أبي جعفر محمد بن جَرِير ﵀، فقد صحَّتْ له عن رسول الله ﷺ رواياتٌ ذُكِرَ فيها سماعُه من رسول الله ﷺ، فمنها:
Muhammad bin Jarir states that al-Waqidi held that al-Dahhak bin Qays did not hear anything from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while other hadith scholars say that he did hear from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So we say, with the help of Allah, that the correct view is that of Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Jarir (may Allah have mercy on him), because reports from him from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) are authentically established in which his hearing is mentioned.
