أخبرني إسماعيل بن علي الخُطَبي ببغداد، حدثنا محمد بن العبّاس المؤدِّب، حدثنا سُرَيج بن النُّعمان الجَوهَري، أخبرنا عبد العزيز بن محمد الدَّرَاوَرْدي، حدثني رَبيعة بن أبي عبد الرحمن، عن الحارث بن بلال بن الحارث المُزَني، عن أبيه قال: قلت: يا رسول الله، فَسْخُ الحجِّ لنا خاصّةً أم للناس عامّةً؟ قال: "بل لنا خاصَّةً" (1).
Al-Harith bin Bilal bin al-Harith al-Muzani narrates from his father that he said: "O Messenger of Allah! Is cancelling the Hajj (by converting it into Umrah) specific to us alone, or is it general for all people?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, it was specific to us alone (that is, to this group of Companions)."

(1) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة حال الحارث بن بلال.
Grading: This chain is weak because al-Harith bin Bilal is "majhul al-hal".
وأخرجه أحمد 25/ (15853) عن سريج بن النُّعمان، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in the "Musnad" (25/ 15853) through the route of Surayj bin al-Nu'man with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد أيضًا (15854)، وأبو داود (1808)، وابن ماجه (2984)، والنسائي (3776) من طرق عن عبد العزيز الدراوردي، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad, Abu Dawud (1808), Ibn Majah (2984) and al-Nasa'i (3776) narrated it through various routes from 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Darawardi.
وقال أبو داود في "مسائله لأحمد" ص 302: قلت لأحمد: حديث بلال بن الحارث في فسخ الحج! قال: ومَن بلال بن الحارث أو الحارث بن بلال، ومن روى عنه؟ ليس يصحُّ حديثٌ في أن الفسخ كان لهم خاصة، وهذا أبو موسى يُفتي به في خلافة أبي بكر، وصدر من خلافة عمر. وانظر "زاد المعاد 2/ 191 - 193.
Important point: Imam Abu Dawud reported from Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal that when he was asked about the narration of Bilal bin al-Harith on the "annulment of the Hajj" (faskh al-hajj), he said: "Who is Bilal bin al-Harith or al-Harith bin Bilal? And who narrated from him? There is no sahih hadith that the annulment was specific to them alone, while Abu Musa al-Ash'ari continued to give fatwas in favour of it (the annulment) during the caliphate of Abu Bakr and the early caliphate of 'Umar." (See: Zad al-Ma'ad 2/ 191-193).
