Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6286

Abu Rafi' narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "I have memorised from the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) things that I have not narrated to you, and if I were to tell you even one of them, you would stone me with stones."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits

Grading: This report is "sahih" in origin, although this chain of the author (al-Hakim) is very weak because Fahd bin 'Awf is "matruk"; but its other routes strengthen it.
Grading: The chain of Imam Ahmad (16/ 10959) is strong, in which Abu Hurayrah says: "If I were to tell you everything I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), you would pelt me with clods of earth and stones."
Note / Clarification: "Al-qisha'" means clods of earth and stones uprooted from the ground.
Reference / Source: The same meaning is narrated by Ibn Sa'd through the chain of Muhammad bin Hilal, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah.
Grading: In corroborating chains and supporting reports, this chain is "hasan".
Grading: This chain would have been hasan were it not for a break ("inqita'") in it;
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Hasan al-Basri did not hear directly from Abu Hurayrah.
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd and Ya'qub bin Sufyan narrated it in "al-Ma'rifah wa al-Tarikh" (1/ 486).
